Joint Hosting of International Workshops

The Japan Association of International Security and Trade (JAIST), in association with the “Science & Technology and International Relations (STIR) Project” of Tokyo University, held an international workshop under the theme of “Security Trade Controls in Asia- Searching for Regional Framework of Cooperation” on July 28, 2007 at the International House of Japan. The program of workshops is as shown below. Three experts from the US and South Korea attended and engaged in a lively debate over the above theme. The theme is an important one that has been debated many times at research symposiums since the establishment of JAIST, and approximately 50 members of JAIST participated in the Workshop. This international workshop was held as part of an attempt to avoid limiting Association activities to Japan and involve researchers from abroad, and was the first step in expanding its activities overseas. We would like to use this opportunity to further strengthen our ties with the International Export Control Association (IECA) and the Korean Association of Security and Trade (KAST).
